About Deepika

Moving out of Sydney five years ago to the far south coast of New South Wales marked beginnings and endings. The ending of a city life that I had known for almost 20 years and the beginning of my journey as a yoga teacher. Stepping into the warm and welcoming community of Batemans Bay was a gift and sharing the practice of yoga was a beautiful way to connect with this community that I am very grateful for.

Over the course of the next few years, life unfolded in myriad unexpected ways- ebbs and flows; more beginnings and endings. Somewhere along the way, I began studying to be an end of life doula. I’d had  my fair share of death, loss, grief & bereavement and after a friend introduced me to what an end of life doula was, I knew it was the right path for me. Being a doula is a way I can be of service to the community in which I live- it encompasses so many things, no one day is the same. The kinds of support people require varies so much from family to family.

In 2025, I co-founded The Compassionate Care Collective with doula and home funeral guide, Kerryn Davey. Our intention for The Collective is to bring people together, educate & raise awareness of the choices we all have when it comes to end of life and to support communities of Eurobodalla and Bega Valley Shires to become more death literate. The Collective now has over 40 volunteers.

Being a doula and teaching yoga may seem unrelated but this is definitely not the case. Both teach me to live with more kindness, love and integrity. There is so much beauty in life that teaches me about death and beauty in death that teaches me about life.

Thank you for being here.

Please get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.
